Advoca vs Guava

Guava is built to collect your records: US patient-portal data, uploaded files and device readings, with form-based tracking. Advoca is built to make sense of your health day to day. Type or talk about your day and it pulls out each symptom's severity, impact on your daily activity, onset, pattern and site, charts the trends and explains them with cited sources. That record then carries into your appointment, which Advoca records and summarises.[1][2][3]

THE QUICK VERDICT

Collect your records, or understand your health

Advoca is the better choice if you want to understand your health, not just store it. You describe your day in your own words and Advoca builds a detailed symptom history for you, with severity and impact on daily activity charted separately, and an assistant that explains your trends using trusted medical evidence. That record then feeds your appointment preparation, recording and summary. Guava gathers portal records, files and device data, with portal syncing focused on the US and its AI Assistant on Premium.[1][2][3]

Choose Advoca if…
  • You want symptom tracking without forms: talk or type, and Advoca charts severity, daily impact, onset, pattern and site for you, free.
  • You want to know what your trends mean: ask the assistant, which reads your symptom history alongside trusted medical sources.
  • You want one record that carries into the appointment: prepare from it, record up to 90 minutes offline, and keep the summary, transcript and PDF.

FACTOR BY FACTOR

How they compare on the choices that matter

Tracking that does itself, or forms you fill in

A symptom history only helps if you keep it going, and on a bad day filling in fields is the first thing to go.

Advoca

Type or talk to Advoca about your day. It updates your journal and automatically extracts each symptom's severity, impact on your daily activity, onset, pattern, site, associated symptoms and notes. It charts severity and daily impact separately, with daily, weekly and monthly views, a heatmap, stacked line chart and Quick Insights. Free charts cover the last two weeks and top six symptoms; Premium covers full history and filters. With Premium, the assistant searches your structured symptom history alongside trusted medical evidence, including 110,000+ indexed medical articles, and shows its sources. Coming soon: medications, test results, energy and mood extracted the same way.

Guava

Guava uses form-based structured tracking for symptoms, medication and supplements, mood, energy, sleep, food, cycle, activity, measurements and custom factors. It connects named services including Fitbit, Garmin, Oura, Dexcom, Apple Health and Health Connect, with charts, trends and correlation tools.[1][2][3][4]

Advoca's advantage: One sentence becomes a structured, charted symptom history you can question, instead of another form to build and fill in.

Understand your trends, with sources you can check

Charts show a pattern; context and sources help you decide what to ask next.

Advoca

Separate severity and daily impact into daily, weekly and monthly charts, with a heatmap, stacked line chart and Quick Insights. With Premium, ask what changed: the assistant searches your structured symptom history alongside trusted medical evidence, including 110,000+ indexed medical articles, and shows its sources.

Guava

Premium includes Guava Assistant, which the plans page says helps with visit preparation, data entry and navigating health data. Its store listing also describes summaries of doctor notes and help understanding health data.[1][9]

Advoca's advantage: Advoca separates intensity from daily impact, then lets you question the record with sources you can check.

Bring a structured history in, and leave with a record of the visit

Arriving with a clear, structured symptom history makes you harder to dismiss. Leaving, you need to remember what was decided.

Advoca

Ask Advoca to prepare your notes or write a report and it pulls in your structured symptom history, journals and previous visits. Your planned notes appear when recording starts. Advoca records up to 90 minutes, even offline, and gives you a sectioned summary, transcript and shareable PDF. Unlimited appointment recording is free.

Guava

Guava doesn't record or summarise appointments; its Visit Prep summarises your data before the visit.[5]

Advoca's advantage: The record you built by talking becomes the report you bring, and the appointment itself becomes part of the record.

Bringing your history together

Your health history is more useful when the day-to-day detail and the appointment record stay connected.

Advoca

Advoca brings together journals, symptom history, appointment recordings and 500+ wearables with Premium. Coming soon: document scanning with summaries, and connecting your health records.

Guava

In the US, Guava's Connect Provider syncs supported portals. Worldwide, records can also be added from PDFs, images, CCDA files and medical imaging.[2][3]

Advoca's advantage: Your history arrives already explained, in a record you can question.

WHAT GUAVA USERS SAY

What Guava users say, and how Advoca is different

We read recent reviews on Google Play, the US App Store, Trustpilot and public Reddit threads. Guava currently averages 4.6 stars on Google Play and 4.8 on the US App Store.[9][10][12][13]

Automatic insights can feel generic

A Trustpilot reviewer says Guava's insights sometimes tell them what they already know, and a Reddit user described their early insights as not useful.[12][13]

…sometimes, it does tend to tell me info I would already know or suggest conventional advice…
— Serena, 15 September 2026, Trustpilot[12]

With Advoca, ask the question you actually have. With Premium, the assistant searches your structured symptom history alongside trusted medical evidence and shows its sources. Severity and daily impact are charted separately, with Quick Insights for patterns. Try saying: “Is my fatigue worse after poor sleep?”

Detailed logging can become a chore

Reviewers describe food logging as overwhelming and still needing manual work alongside synced data.[12][13]

I find logging everything correctly (food types, times, nutrients) overwhelming - it's just a lot for a new habit.
— Global-Pepper8188, 25 December 2025, Reddit (r/GuavaHealth)[13]

With Advoca, say it once. Type or talk about your day and Advoca automatically extracts symptom severity, impact on daily activity, onset, pattern, site, associated symptoms and notes. Try saying: “My hands hurt this morning and I had to stop making breakfast.”

What Guava users like: Users also praise bringing records, lab results and wearable data together, Visit Prep summaries for appointments, and a generous free plan with no ads.[12][14][15]

These are individual user reviews, may describe older versions, and are not an independent test.

Your questions, answered

Is Advoca better than Guava?

Yes, if you want Advoca to turn what you say into a structured symptom history, chart severity and daily impact separately, explain trends with cited sources and carry that record into an appointment it records and summarises. Guava collects portal records, uploaded files, device readings and form-based tracking. [1][2][3]

What's the main difference between Advoca and Guava?

Advoca starts with your day: type or talk, let it extract structured symptom details, ask what the trends mean with sources, and carry the record into an appointment it records and summarises. Guava starts with records and form-based tracking: US portals, uploaded files, device readings and structured logs. [1][2][3]

Is Guava free, and how much is Premium?

Advoca is free to use. Guava has a free plan, while Premium is displayed at $8 monthly or $78 yearly and includes its AI Assistant; check the current page and your billing currency before paying. [1]

Is Advoca free?

Yes. All core features are free, including journaling, automatic symptom tracking with the last two weeks of charts, appointment preparation and unlimited appointment recording, with a generous daily chat allowance. Premium adds full symptom history and filters, all Quick Insights, chat over your symptom history, unlimited chat, the latest research papers and wearables. You don't need to join our research community to use Advoca for free.

How do Advoca and Guava handle my health data?

Advoca stores permanent records in the UK, uses zero-retention arrangements with sensitive processors, encrypts appointment audio on your device, and lets you export and delete your data. Joining the research community is optional: if you join, your data is anonymised first and you can earn rewards. Guava says it does not sell data, supports download and deletion, and publishes AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit. Its terms warn that imported data can be incomplete or wrong. [11][6][7][8]

Can Guava or Advoca record a medical appointment?

Advoca records for up to 90 minutes, including offline, and creates a sectioned summary, transcript and shareable PDF. Guava doesn't record or summarise appointments; its Visit Prep summarises your data before the visit. [5]
